The worship of sacred images is characteristic of Orthodox churches and dates back to the origins of Christianity. The histories of Christian saints were recorded over the centuries through beautiful and powerful icons which pass on the example of religious virtue and Divine Spirit's consequent action in the world. His love of tradition and its value inspired the Atanas Atanassov to adapt the tarot by associating icons with the traditional meaning of each card creating new interpretative possibilities.
